Nous avions commencé ce blog avec une bonne nouvelle, alors continuons sur la lancée ! 

Cette seconde bonne nouvelle, c'est que le millésime 2009 devrait fortement ressembler au superbe 2003 ! Déjà, lorsque nous goutons les mouts, nous sommes séduits par leur extrême pureté, une sensation très nette, très longue en bouche.

On en redemande ! 

Coté technique, nous avons très peu de tri cette année, puisque le Botrytis s'est développé de façon bien homogène, en raison d'une forte concentration en sucres. 

La seule "difficulté" que nous rencontrions ces jours-ci provient de la grande quantité de raisins à faire entrer au chai, qui provoque parfois quelques embouteillages ! 

La cohésion est bonne au sein de notre équipe de 60 vendangeurs, constituée en grande majorité d'habitués "locaux" et de quelques saisonniers. Les repas, concoctés le midi pour toute l'équipe du Château, se déroulent dans une ambiance chaleureuse et enjouée, caractéristique de cette saison de vendanges.

We started this blog on a good note, so let’s keep it up with more good news!

It seems that the 2009 vintage will follow the footsteps of its succulently sweet predecessor -the 2003 vintage.  After tasting the first must, or juices, we were amazed by the pure, clean and exceptionally long palate.

So we tasted more (just to be sure)!

From a technical standpoint, we don’t think that we will have to do many field sortings.  The botrytis has formed fairy evenly due to high sugar levels in the grapes.

The only “difficulty” that we are faced with is in the chai. So many grapes, so little time!! Since we have so many bunches that are ready all at once, there is a slight back-up at the press line!  But the Château d’Arche traffic control team are doing their best to keep things running smoothly!  

We have a large group of more than 60 pickers this year, mostly ‘locals’ who participate in the harvest every year as well as some seasonal workers.  At the most important, and well deserved moment of the day, LUNCH, the Château d’Arche team can relax, recuperate, catch up with old friends, and make new ones.  Everyone seems to be in an exceptionally good, high spirited mood this season!
