30°C dans les vignes, 20° dans les jus !
Chaud ! Il a fait TRES chaud aujourd'hui à Sauternes, avec prés de 30°c au pic du soleil !
Nous avons débuté la journée très tôt ce matin, puisque nous étions tous sur le pied de guerre dés 4 heures pour vendanger l'unique hectare de Merlot, arrivé à pleine maturité.
Une fois les grappes rouges récoltées, nous avons naturellement continué avec les raisins blancs, dont les premiers, jus qui sont habituellement les moins concentrés, affichaient déjà 20° potentiels ! Cela confirme l'exceptionnelle qualité de ces premiers tris, dont le volume a atteint aujourd'hui prés de 50 hl. Vous vous en doutez, le trafic à l'entrée des chais était très dense !
Les vendanges se poursuivent donc dans la bonne humeur et nous commenceront dés demain le second tri, puisque ce soir toutes les parcelles du Château d'Arche ont déjà été vendangées au moins une première fois.

HOT, HOT, HOT! It was very hot in the vineyard today with a high of 30° C (85°F) this afternoon!
We started very early this morning, ready for action at 4 a.m. to harvest our 1 hectare of Merlot that has reached full maturity.
After finishing picking our red grapes, we progressed onto white grapes. To our excitement, the fist batches of juice already contain a must weight (or density) of 20%, something that is rare for first batch juice. This only confirms the exceptional quality of the grapes that will equalled in quantity yielding almost 50hl!
Needless to say that there is heavy traffic in and out of presses!
Picking continues steadily and swiftly and, despite the exceptionally hot weather, the whole Château d’Arche team will happily push forward and start the second passage tomorrow.
